Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has no Zombies mode at launch: Activision lists its modes as Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ. Zombies is in Black Ops 7; in MW4 the mode against AI enemies is DMZ, where other players share the map.

Modern Warfare 4 launched without a Zombies mode: Activision lists its modes as Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ, in the announcement (May 28, 2026) and again in the launch post (Oct 23, 2026), which offers "a brand-new Campaign", "20 Multiplayer maps" and "the DMZ extraction mode". Activision has not said "no Zombies" in so many words, and has not ruled out adding one later; it simply names no such mode. If you want Zombies, it is in Black Ops 7. If you want to fight AI enemies in Modern Warfare 4, the mode for that is DMZ.

What the official lists say

Every mode list Activision has published names the same three. The announcement's sections are Game, Campaign, Multiplayer, DMZ, and Technology and Platforms, and its technology section speaks of "Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ". The launch post mentions no Zombies, Spec Ops or other co-op mode. The full Multiplayer mode list in Activision's maps and modes blog (Oct 21, 2026), from Team Deathmatch to Gun Game and Proving Grounds, has no Zombies mode either (see Game Modes).

Outlets read it the same way. Insider Gaming (May 29, 2026) reported that Modern Warfare 4 "will not feature a Zombies game mode of any sort", round-based or in the open-world style of Modern Warfare 3's Zombies, and Dexerto says there are no zombies in DMZ either. Neither quotes an Activision statement saying so.

Why there is no Zombies

Zombies is Treyarch's mode, which normally appears as the third mode of a Black Ops game, while Infinity Ward has tried other third modes in its own games, such as Special Ops and Extinction, as Dexerto France (May 28, 2026) notes. For Modern Warfare 4 Infinity Ward chose DMZ as the third mode, confirmed on the day of the reveal.

Zombies is in Black Ops 7

Black Ops 7, the previous Call of Duty, has Zombies, and it carries on there: Activision's pre-order challenge for the Gilded Ruin camo, run in Black Ops 7 Season 05, counted Zombies eliminations (1 Skull each) beside Multiplayer and Warzone. Black Ops 7 is a separate game and is not part of Modern Warfare 4.

DMZ: Modern Warfare 4's mode against AI

12:59 DMZ is the closest thing to a cooperative mode in Modern Warfare 4. You deploy alone or in a squad of up to three into Hajin, fight North Korean soldiers, drones, robot dogs and bosses such as the Colossus, loot, and extract. Activision's June reveal (Jun 6, 2026) says you can play it against the AI alone, but rival players share every server, so it is never purely cooperative. Infected and Possession are not Zombies

Two Multiplayer party modes arrive for Halloween before Season 1, per Activision's maps and modes blog: Infected, where eliminated Survivors join the Infected team, and the new Possession, where you take over the enemy you eliminate and their loadout. The roadmap reported by Inven Global dates them Oct 29 (Possession) and Oct 30 (Infected). Both are player-against-player modes, not a Zombies mode. Season 1 starts on Nov 6, 2026, per Activision's roadmap as reported by Insider Gaming (see Season 1 and Roadmap).
