All Call of Duty on Steam
Steam counts Modern Warfare 4's players in its one "Call of Duty" app, together with Warzone, Black Ops 6, Black Ops 7 and the Modern Warfare games since 2022, so no count of Modern Warfare 4 alone exists: its own store page, app 4435490, only sells the game, which runs inside the shared app. This chart is everyone in that app, and the jumps since Oct 16, 2026 are Modern Warfare 4's early access and launch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is Infinity Ward's first-person shooter, published by Activision on Oct 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, with a 16-mission campaign set mostly in a Korea at war, multiplayer on 20 launch maps including the modular Kill Block, and the extraction mode DMZ on Hajin. This viki covers the campaign mission by mission, the maps and modes, the best loadouts, every weapon, perk, piece of equipment and killstreak, ranks, Prestige and camos, DMZ, Warzone, settings, PC requirements, the Switch 2 version, editions and early access, and every key paragraph plays the moment on YouTube that shows it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is Infinity Ward's first-person shooter, published by Activision and released on Oct 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, with a 16-mission campaign set mostly in Korea, a multiplayer suite of 20 launch maps and DMZ, an extraction mode on the Korean map Hajin. It is the fourth game of the Modern Warfare reboot that began in 2019 (Nintendo Insider, Oct 23, 2026): North Korea invades the South, a young South Korean conscript fights on the collapsing front, and an outlawed Captain Price hunts the man behind it. Activision announced it on May 28, 2026 under the tagline "Warfare Without Limits". The logo writes the 4 as the Korean syllable 사 (sa, "four"). Digital pre-orders could play the campaign from Oct 16 and DMZ from Oct 20, and Season 1 begins on Nov 6, 2026. The clip is a multiplayer match on the Mumbai map, played in first person through its narrow alleys and over its corrugated rooftops.

What Modern Warfare 4 is
Modern Warfare 4 is three games in one purchase: a story campaign, competitive multiplayer and DMZ. The official site lists exactly those three modes. Infinity Ward led development; the PC version was made "in partnership with Beenox", and the Switch 2 version was built natively with Digital Legends, with Activision Shanghai, High Moon Studios, Raven Software, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch among the support studios (Call of Duty, May 28, 2026). The game runs on Infinity Ward's IW Engine, as Digital Foundry calls it; Activision has published no version number. The Development and Reveal page tells how it was made and shown.
The headline technical change is what Infinity Ward calls Ballistic Authority, a "weapon-first technology stack": bloom is gone from hipfire, so shots go where the weapon points, and recoil, convergence and depth of field were rebuilt (Call of Duty, May 28, 2026). It is the first Call of Duty in 13 years not released on PS4 and Xbox One, and the first on a Nintendo system since Call of Duty: Ghosts on Wii U in 2013 (Dexerto, May 28, 2026).
Campaign
The campaign has sixteen missions across the Korean Peninsula, Paris, New York and Mumbai. You play Private Park Hyun Jun, a young South Korean soldier in combat for the first time, after a routine patrol turns into a fight for survival when North Korea launches a full-scale invasion, beginning in the fictional Hajin City (Call of Duty, Sep 16, 2026). Half a world away, Captain Price, on the run since Modern Warfare 3 with Task Force 141 disbanded, works in an uneasy alliance with Valeria Garza's Las Almas cartel to hunt a threat known as "The Archer" (Call of Duty). The Story page sets out the premise and the five-day timeline, and Characters and Cast and Captain Price cover who is who. The clip is the official campaign trailer, from the order to invade the South to Price's alliance with the cartel.
It runs about 6 to 9 hours: GameSpot timed it at "around eight hours", and Game Rant gives 8 to 9 on average. There are six difficulties, from Recruit to the one-life YOLO, and every mission unlocks a reward for Multiplayer and DMZ: eight Operators, three Double XP Tokens, two Double Weapon XP Tokens, a calling card, an emblem and a loading screen (Call of Duty, Oct 16, 2026). The campaign plays offline once launched online, per PowerPyx.
The Campaign Walkthrough lists all sixteen missions in order, from Mission 1: Mayhem to Mission 16: Greater Good, with one page each. Campaign Rewards and Difficulty lists the rewards, Campaign Collectibles covers the notes and supply crates in Missions 3, 10 and 13, and Trophies and Achievements covers all 18 trophies. The Ending and Post-Credits Scene is explained on its own page, behind a spoiler note.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer launched with 20 maps: 12 Core 6v6 maps (Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm and Transit 213), three 32v32 Ground War maps (Imjin Farmland, Wolves Stadium and Forest), four 2v2 Gunfight maps (Cafe, Library, NYC and Smuggler) and Kill Block, a modular training facility with more than 500 configurations that plays 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight at launch. Shipment joins as a 13th Core map on Oct 27, 2026. The Multiplayer Maps page describes each one. In the clip, from Infinity Ward's From The Ward series, a developer who had long had Kill Block in his head explains its three Slabs, randomized every match.
There are over a dozen Game Modes, including the new Inflation, Hijack, Collateral (Search and Destroy with a buy phase) and Combat Outpost, with Hardcore variants. At launch there are 33 weapons, 33 Operators and progression to Level 55, with 18 Perks in a Pick 3 system and 17 Killstreaks attached to each loadout, a first for a Modern Warfare game. Killstreak costs went up by one kill in the beta and stayed that way, so the UAV costs 5 kills (4 with Hardline). Movement and Gunplay covers the new mantle slide, pipe climbing and Tactical Sprint on the Blood Rush perk, and Ranked Play what is known of the competitive mode, which has no date as of Oct 25, 2026. In the clip Infinity Ward's developers talk through the new movement after a playtest: mantling into a slide, onto cars and the pipe climb.
For loadouts start with Weapons, Best Weapons, Best Loadouts, Gunsmith and Attachments and Equipment and Field Upgrades. Progress is covered by Ranks and Unlocks, Prestige (two Prestige paths, a series first, per the launch notes), Camos, Operators and How to Level Up Fast. New players should read the Beginner's Guide and the Best Settings.
DMZ
DMZ is Modern Warfare 4's extraction mode: you deploy solo or with a squad into Hajin's Exclusion Zone, loot, fight AI forces and rival Operators, complete objectives and try to get out alive with what you carry, by helicopter, Fulton balloon or flare (Call of Duty, Oct 5, 2026). Activision calls it "the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience" on the official site. Hajin has over 60 named locations, among them the 14th Political Prison, Chang-san Air Base, Haneul Nuclear Reactor, NuriGO Mall and Wolves Stadium, and a radiation storm that closes in over a deployment. GameSpot calls Hajin the largest map ever made for Call of Duty, larger than Verdansk. The clip is the official DMZ Worldbuilder Trailer: a nuclear meltdown that made the region uninhabitable, North Korea returning for the weapons under Hajin, and mercenaries in the zone.
Between deployments you build up the Forward Operating Base, a hub of over a dozen stations including a 3D Printer, Gunsmith, Vendor and Boss Board, and climb a separate DMZ level track to 70. Unlike Modern Warfare 2's DMZ, it is no longer free: it comes with the $70 game. Start with DMZ, Hajin and the DMZ Beginner's Guide, then DMZ Story Missions, DMZ Progression and Forward Operating Base and DMZ Bounties and Dynamic Ops. In the clip, from the official COD POD, Infinity Ward describes the FOB as a hangout with a firing range and quick travel between the 3D Printer, stash and Gunsmith.
No Zombies
Modern Warfare 4 has no Zombies mode. Its official site lists three modes, Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ; Zombies belongs to Treyarch's Black Ops games, and Black Ops 7 has it. DMZ is the mode where you fight AI enemies alongside other players. See Zombies.
Warzone
Warzone stays a separate free game in the same Call of Duty install, and becomes Modern Warfare 4's chapter with Season 1 on Nov 6: Modern Warfare 4's weapons, progression, Level Unlocks and camos come in, and Raven Software keeps balancing it (Call of Duty, Sep 24, 2026). Hajin arrives as a Battle Royale map and Zodiac, first played in the beta, as a Resurgence map (Call of Duty, Aug 21, 2026). Operators and Blueprints from Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 carry forward, and a new toggle shows other players' older Operators as Modern Warfare 4 ones. Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One stops working when Season 1 starts. See Warzone Integration.
Platforms and Nintendo Switch 2
The game is on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam, Battle.net and the Xbox app, and Nintendo Switch 2, with cross-play and cross-progression across all of them, Switch 2 included (Call of Duty, Aug 26, 2026). It was built natively for current-generation hardware, so there is no PS4 or Xbox One version. An Xbox Store purchase covers Xbox consoles and Xbox on PC. On PC, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play online, and Steam requires a phone number linked to the account. PC needs 115 GB on an SSD. Details are on Platforms and Cross-play, PC Requirements and Install Size and Anti-Cheat, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot.
The Switch 2 version has the full campaign, multiplayer and DMZ, with Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, gyro aiming, HDR and handheld play (Call of Duty, Aug 26, 2026). The boxed copy is a code in a box, not a cartridge, and online play needs Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo Life and Nintendo Insider both scored it 90. Frame rates and image quality, each with its source, are on Nintendo Switch 2 Version. The clip is the verdict of Nintendo Life's video review, ending on its 9 out of 10.

Reception
Modern Warfare 4 is the best-reviewed Call of Duty in years. Metacritic's PC page shows 86 from 18 critic reviews, all positive, on Oct 25, 2026, against Black Ops 7's 65 (The Shortcut, Oct 23, 2026), and Forbes' Paul Tassi called it the series' best Metacritic score in 15 years. OpenCritic gives a Top Critic Average of 85 with 96% of critics recommending it, from 28 reviews. Windows Central and TechRadar Gaming gave it 100, and Game Rant scored it 10/10 as "the best Call of Duty since Black Ops 2" (OpenCritic).
Critics praised the campaign most, with GamesRadar+ singling out the mission Stranded, and GameSpot named Kill Block the star of multiplayer (GameSpot, Oct 23, 2026). The criticisms were DMZ moving into the paid game, Vault Edition advantages in DMZ, no Game Pass at launch, a launch time to kill that some players find too long, and skill-based matchmaking (Dexerto, Oct 23, 2026). On Steam the game is Very Positive, 81% of 4,226 English reviews on Oct 25, 2026, after early access ratings that Insider Gaming called the series' best on Steam in a decade. See Reception and Reviews.
Steam players
Steam does not count Modern Warfare 4 on its own. The game launches inside the shared "Call of Duty" app (Steam app 1938090), which supports Modern Warfare 4, Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone and also holds Black Ops 6, so Steam sees play time there. Modern Warfare 4's own store app, 4435490, showed 1 player at 17:02 UTC on Oct 25, 2026, while the shared app had 217,019 at the same moment. So no Steam figure for Modern Warfare 4 alone exists, and the chart at the top of this page is labeled All Call of Duty on Steam.
Press reports quoting SteamDB put the shared app above 108,000 on the first day of Campaign Early Access (Notebookcheck, Oct 17, 2026), more than Black Ops 7's launch weekend, and at 227,622 at launch (Tech4Gamers, Oct 25, 2026), about double Black Ops 7's launch but below Black Ops 6's of over 315,000. The beta had its own Steam app and peaked at 115,145 on Aug 21, 2026. Activision had announced no sales figures as of Oct 25, 2026. The full explanation is on Steam Player Count.
Seasons and what comes next
Season 1 begins on Nov 6, 2026 on all platforms, per Infinity Ward's roadmap of Oct 14; Activision has announced no start hour. It brings the first Battle Pass and BlackCell, and the Warzone integration with Hajin. Before it, Shipment arrives on Oct 27, and two Halloween modes, the new Possession and the returning Infected, come in time for Halloween. Kill Block is to get 6v6 modes and new sections after launch. See Season 1 and Roadmap, Battle Pass and BlackCell and Patch Notes, and Open Beta for the August test that shaped the launch.

Campaign
- Campaign Rewards and Difficulty
Each of Modern Warfare 4's 16 missions gives one reward for Multiplayer and DMZ: 8 Base Operators, 3 Double XP Tokens, 2 Double Weapon XP Tokens, a Calling Card, a Loading Screen and an Emblem. Rewards are the same on any of the six difficulties (Recruit, Regular, Hardened, Veteran, Realism, YOLO); only beating YOLO adds the "YOLO Completer" Calling Card.
- Captain Price
In Modern Warfare 4, Captain John Price is an outlaw: Task Force 141 is disbanded after he killed General Shepherd in Modern Warfare 3, and he allies with Valeria Garza's Las Almas cartel to hunt the arms dealer known as the Archer while Ghost and Gaz are sent to capture or kill him. Barry Sloane plays him in his fourth Modern Warfare game.
- Characters and Cast
Modern Warfare 4's cast is led by Barry Sloane as Captain Price, Young Mazino as Private Park Hyun Jun, Maria Elisa Camargo as Valeria Garza and Mads Mikkelsen as the villain known as the Archer, with Samuel Roukin (Ghost), Elliot Knight (Gaz), Rya Kihlstedt (Laswell), Prisca Kim (Ri Ju-Young) and Lanny Joon (Ko Jin Hyuk).
- Ending and Post-Credits Scene
Modern Warfare 4 ends with Captain Price killing the Archer in the final mission, Greater Good, then dying of his wounds after Ghost forgives him. In the post-credits scene, CIA officer Kate Laswell deletes the files on Gaz, Ghost and Price, erasing Task Force 141 from the record, with Ghost its last survivor.
- Story
Modern Warfare 4's campaign follows two stories that meet at the end: Private Park Hyun Jun, a young South Korean conscript fighting a North Korean invasion that begins in Hajin City, and an outlaw Captain Price, who allies with Valeria Garza's cartel to hunt the arms dealer known as the Archer. It is set after Modern Warfare 3 and closes the rebooted Modern Warfare story of Price and Task Force 141.
DMZ
- DMZ
DMZ is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's PvPvE extraction mode: you deploy solo or in a squad of up to three into the Hajin Exclusion Zone, loot, complete missions, fight North Korean forces and rival players, and keep only what you carry out on an exfil. It is part of the paid game, not free like Warzone.
- DMZ Bounties and Dynamic Ops
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ, killing a player puts a Bounty on you, and four kills across deployments make you Wanted; others claim it by extracting with your Dog Tag. Dynamic Ops are multi-step objectives made fresh each match that pay DMZ XP, DMZ Cash and a Supply Drop that improves with every Op in the same run.
- DMZ Progression and Forward Operating Base
The Forward Operating Base (FOB) is DMZ's hub in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, where you keep a shared Stash, craft at the 3D Printer, buy at the Vendor and Gunsmith, and run up to three Active Duty Operators with Trait Trees. DMZ has its own Levels 1 to 70, Operator Dog Tag levels up to Onyx III, and Operator Prestige from 200,000 DMZ Cash.
- DMZ Story Missions
DMZ Story Missions are the story deployments of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ: replayable missions at set places in Hajin, on servers shared with other players, that follow a power struggle after the campaign. Named ones include Breaking New Ground, the Fallout mission, the Dark Zone mission, the Shopping Mission and Operation Iron Citadel; Activision has published no full list.
- Hajin
Hajin is the DMZ map of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, an exclusion zone where Russia, North Korea and South Korea meet, with 13 major points of interest from the 14th Political Prison and Chang-san Air Base in the North Korean west to The Grid and the Haneul Nuclear Reactor in the South Korean east. It becomes a Warzone Battle Royale map in Season 1.
Beginner Guides
- Beginner's Guide
In your first hours of Modern Warfare 4, set sensitivity, FOV and audio, play the campaign for eight Operators and five XP tokens, reach Level 4 for Create-a-Class, learn that Tactical Sprint lives on the Blood Rush perk, expect a 5-kill UAV, and treat DMZ as a mode where you can lose your gear.
- DMZ Beginner's Guide
To start DMZ in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, read your DMZ Orders at the FOB, deploy with a plate carrier, backpack, weapon and medkit (or the Free Loadout), start in low-threat areas, loot containers and do UAV Towers, avoid fights you do not need, and exfil early. Clear your backpack into the Stash after every run and spend early cash on Stash and Bank upgrades.
- How to Level Up Fast
To level up fast in Modern Warfare 4, finish the campaign for three Double XP and two Double Weapon XP Tokens, play objective modes (Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed) on small maps, do and reroll your three Daily Challenges, focus one or two weapons, and count DMZ, whose XP also raises your Player Level.
Completion Guides
- Campaign Collectibles
Modern Warfare 4's campaign has 90 collectibles, all in three missions: 4 notes (plus contraband) in Mission 3 Following Orders, 58 notes and 26 Yellow Supply Crates in Mission 10 Stranded, and 2 notes in Mission 13 Escape. They count toward four trophies: No Stone Unturned, Noteworthy, Time to Crate and Scavenger.
- Trophies and Achievements
Modern Warfare 4 has 18 trophies and achievements, all in the campaign (8 Gold and 10 Silver on PlayStation, with no Platinum). None is missable, Multiplayer and DMZ have none, and PowerPyx puts the full set at 15 or more hours over at least two playthroughs, one of them on Realism difficulty.
Loadout Guides
- Best Loadouts
The meta loadouts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 at launch are built on the M4, Han 86 and Kastov 762 assault rifles and the ISO Nightshade and VEL 46 SMGs, usually with a suppressor, a laser and a grip, plus the gun's Apex attachment. Sensitivity and deadzones are personal; start near 1.2 to 1.7.
Walkthrough Guides
- Campaign Walkthrough
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign has 16 missions, from Mayhem to Greater Good, and takes about 6 to 9 hours; every mission gives a reward for Multiplayer and DMZ, and collectibles sit only in Following Orders, Stranded and Escape.
- Mission 10: Stranded
Stranded is Modern Warfare 4's tenth mission and its only open mission: Park's squad, stuck in snowy North Korea, takes out a Jamming Station, a SAM Site and a bunker in any order, gathering supplies from 26 Yellow Supply Crates to repair gear at Base Camp. It holds 58 of the game's 64 notes and four trophies, and finishing it gives the "Kal" Base Operator.
- Mission 11: Defection
Defection is Modern Warfare 4's eleventh mission, a raid on a North Korean airbase in which Park's squad cuts the power, plants explosives on the missiles, attacks the airbase and escapes by helicopter. It has no collectibles or trophies of its own, and finishing it gives a Double Weapon XP Token.
- Mission 12: Counter Attack
Counter Attack is Modern Warfare 4's twelfth mission, a large beach landing and push into the city in which Park's squad follows Sgt. Jae off the beach, takes an enemy hardpoint, secures a hotel and then gives sniper overwatch. Sniping all four mortar crews earns the Long Shot trophy, and finishing it gives the "Dunn" Base Operator.
- Mission 13: Escape
Escape is Modern Warfare 4's thirteenth mission, a stealth breakout from the Archer's prison that ends at the garage control room. It holds Notes 63 and 64 and a safe with Gaz's dog tags (code 8410) for the Never Forgotten trophy, and finishing it gives a Double Weapon XP Token.
- Mission 14: Entrenched
Entrenched is Modern Warfare 4's fourteenth mission, a trench assault to stop a nuclear power station falling to the enemy, ending with the squad flooding the reactor. It was the first full campaign mission ever put in a Call of Duty beta, the Trench Broom trophy asks for 15 shotgun kills, and finishing it gives the "West" Base Operator.
- Mission 15: Decapitation
Decapitation is Modern Warfare 4's fifteenth mission, the strike on North Korea's leadership: secure the landing zone, clear a detention center's cell blocks and offices, breach the war room and kill Commander Ri Ju-Young. It has no collectibles or trophy of its own, and finishing it gives a Double XP Token.
- Mission 16: Greater Good
Greater Good is Modern Warfare 4's sixteenth and final mission: Price escapes a wrecked truck, chases the wounded Archer through a snowy forest and kills him in a last melee fight. Finishing it ends the campaign, unlocks the Hold the Line trophy and Realism difficulty, and gives the "Park" Base Operator.
- Mission 1: Mayhem
Mayhem is the first mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, played as Private Park in Hajin City as North Korea invades; you help Dunn at a convenience store, fight paratroopers in a stadium, track a convoy and destroy a tunnel, and finishing it unlocks the "Cho" Base Operator.
- Mission 2: Out in the Cold
Out in the Cold is the second mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, played as Captain Price five days before the invasion; you tail Milena through a nightclub, fight up to the rooftops, chase Makarov and beat him in a hand-to-hand fight, and it unlocks the "No More Rules" Calling Card.
- Mission 3: Following Orders
Following Orders is the third mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a house-to-house search of a North Korean village for a defector played as a North Korean soldier; it holds 4 Notes, contraband, the toolbox code 214 and two trophies, and unlocks a Double XP Token.
- Mission 4: Hired Gun
Hired Gun is the fourth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a running fight with Valeria's cartel out of a train yard, through a warehouse, containers and a maintenance building to a showdown with Graves and Shadow Company; it holds the Bullet Train trophy (50 kills on train cars) and unlocks the "Dallas" Base Operator.
- Mission 5: Losing Ground
Losing Ground is the fifth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a losing fight to hold Hajin City in which you defend a cafe, fall back to a bridge, fire a truck-mounted mortar and run for a tunnel; it holds the Raining Thunder trophy and unlocks the "Ready Line" Loading Screen.
- Mission 6: Traffic
Traffic is the sixth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a car chase in Paris with Valeria's cartel in which you protect a cargo van, follow Valeria on foot and escape the pursuit, without hitting civilians; it unlocks the "Luca" Base Operator.
- Mission 7: Gone Dark
Gone Dark is the seventh mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, played as Price and then Gaz: Price follows Valeria to a meeting with the Archer, Gaz clears a darkened tower with night vision, and Price fights Ghost and Gaz hand to hand; it unlocks the "Gone Dark" Emblem.
- Mission 8: Assassins
Assassins is the eighth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a stealth escape through a library, kitchens and gardens to a bunker, with the door codes 5523, 7632 and 9103; it holds the Pacifist trophy (one kill) and the Revenge trophy, and unlocks the "Oh-Ji" Base Operator.
- Mission 9: Survivors
Survivors is the ninth of Modern Warfare 4's 16 campaign missions, a short stealth mission in which Park's squad survives a downed transport in North Korea, hides from searching patrols and a spotlight, carries the wounded Cho and shelters in a house. It has no collectibles and no trophy of its own, and finishing it gives a Double XP Token.
Multiplayer
- Game Modes
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched with over a dozen multiplayer modes, including the new Inflation, Hijack, Collateral and Ground War: Combat Outpost, eight of them with Hardcore versions. Possession and Infected arrive for Halloween on Oct 29 and Oct 30, 2026.
- Ground War
Ground War in Modern Warfare 4 is 32v32 Combat Outpost, a Domination-style mode where teams capture Outposts for points and spawns and reinforce them for rewards up to a Light Tank. It has three maps around Hajin: Imjin Farmland, Wolves Stadium and Forest.
- Gunfight
Gunfight in Modern Warfare 4 is a round-based mode where small teams share one loadout that changes every two rounds; rounds last 50 seconds and the first team to 6 wins. It runs 2v2 on Cafe, Library, NYC and Smuggler, and 3v3 and 10v10 on Kill Block.
- Kill Block
Kill Block is Modern Warfare 4's modular multiplayer map, the Westbridge Training Facility, built from three swappable sections into more than 500 combinations. At launch it runs only 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight, with 6v6 modes and new sections promised after launch.
- Movement and Gunplay
Modern Warfare 4 keeps slide canceling but has no omnimovement; it adds Mantle Slide, Supine Slide, pipe climbing and ledge moves, and puts Tactical Sprint on the Blood Rush perk. Hipfire has no bloom, and the time to kill is the slightly slower Beta Weekend 2 tuning players preferred.
- Multiplayer Maps
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on Oct 23, 2026 with 20 multiplayer maps: 12 Core 6v6 maps, 3 Ground War maps, 4 Gunfight maps and the modular Kill Block. Shipment joins as a 13th Core map on Oct 27, 2026, making 21.
- Ranked Play
Modern Warfare 4 has no Ranked Play at launch, and as of Oct 25, 2026 Activision and Infinity Ward have announced neither a date nor rules for it. Dexerto expects it in early 2027, based on when Ranked Play arrived in earlier Call of Duty games.
- Shipment
Shipment comes to Modern Warfare 4 on Tuesday, Oct 27, 2026, four days after launch, as a 13th Core 6v6 map. The small map from Call of Duty 4 (2007) returns on a Russian harbor with its classic layout, playable in all Core and Hardcore modes.

Progression
- Battle Pass and BlackCell
Modern Warfare 4 has no Battle Pass yet; the first one, with BlackCell, COD Points and Tier Skips, starts with Season 1 on Nov 6, 2026. BlackCell adds the full Battle Pass, 20 Tier Skips, 1,100 COD Points, an exclusive Operator and Blueprint, and the Vault Edition includes one season of it.

The grind is shared across modes.
- Operators
Modern Warfare 4 launched with 33 Operators for Multiplayer and DMZ: 5 available at once, 8 from campaign missions, 4 from DMZ levels, 5 from Multiplayer challenges, 9 from the pre-order bonus and the Vault Edition, Kyle from the C.O.D.E. - Killstreaks
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has 17 killstreaks, from the UAV to the Gunship and Air Lockdown. Since launch every streak costs one kill more than the Oct 19 blog lists, so the UAV costs 5 kills (4 with Hardline).
