What the Vault Edition includes

The Hostile Alliance Operator Pack holds four Operators from the campaign: Price, Valeria, Ghost and Blix, with masked and unmasked skins for Price and Valeria (Call of Duty, May 28, 2026). In the beta their factions were listed as Price ([CLASSIFIED]), Valeria (Las Almas Cartel), Ghost (TF 141) and Blix (SK SF), with the Finishing Moves "Blow by Blow", "Cut And Dry", "Good Point" and "Tanto Tactics" (Call of Duty, Aug 21, 2026). In the clip, from From The Ward's third episode, an Infinity Ward artist explains why the Vault Edition's Ghost matters after the events of the campaign.

The Special Forces Operator Pack has four national units, each with a voice pack in its own language: COM SFT (France), KSK Amphibious (Germany), South Korean Special Forces (South Korea) and SAS (United Kingdom).

The Signature Weapon Collection is five Weapon Blueprints, and the four guns come with their Apex Attachment:

Blueprint Weapon Apex Attachment
"Voltspine" Kastov 762 Kastov Arc (RF pulse barrel)
"La Sombra Venenosa" ISO Nightshade ISO Trace (RFID tracking ammo)
"Shattered Code" Rezi 12 Rezi Enforcer (pump action with explosive slugs)
"Volt-Edge" Oris 8.6 Oris Razor (throwing-knife blade module)
"Sombra Besada" Combat Knife None

Source: Call of Duty (May 28, 2026). Infinity Ward's Oct 23 update said the Apex Attachments seen in the beta were early seasonal-event items that "will return soon" (launch notes); see Gunsmith and Attachments.

BlackCell for one season includes the full Battle Pass with 100+ rewards, 20 Battle Pass Tier Skips, 1,100 COD Points, an exclusive Operator and Weapon Blueprint, and BlackCell variants of Battle Pass items. It starts with Season 1 on Nov 6, 2026, when the first Battle Pass opens; buy the Vault Edition after Season 1 and you get the BlackCell of the season then running (Call of Duty, May 28, 2026). See Battle Pass and BlackCell.

The DMZ Deployment Bonus is a starter kit of two Weapon Insurance Contracts, two Operator Rescue Beacons, two Fulton Drop Markers, two Medium Backpacks and two 2-Plate Carriers. Vault owners also start DMZ with three Active Duty Operator slots instead of two (Call of Duty, Oct 9, 2026). GameSpot listed these DMZ advantages among the game's weaknesses. See DMZ Progression and Forward Operating Base.

Pre-order bonuses

By October every digital pre-order of either edition listed the same five benefits (Call of Duty, Oct 12, 2026):

  • Campaign Early Access from Oct 16 and DMZ Early Access from Oct 20, 2026 (see Early Access).
  • Hunter Killer Operator Skin, unlocked at once in Black Ops 7 and Warzone on pre-order and in Modern Warfare 4 at launch; it must be redeemed in Black Ops 7 or Warzone by Oct 23, 2027.
  • Gilded Pearl Camo Pack: the "Moonlit Pearl" Universal Camo at once, plus a Black Ops 7 challenge for the "Gilded Ruin" camo, serialized 1 to 100,000 for the first 100,000 players to finish it. The challenge, which began on Jul 23, 2026 with Black Ops 7 Season 05, asked for 5,000 Skulls (5 per Endgame elimination, 10 in Multiplayer, 1 in Zombies, 30 in Warzone). Both camos unlock in Modern Warfare 4 at launch. See Camos.
  • "Inner Circuit" M4 Blueprint, announced on Sep 9, 2026, with an 11.5" Shortline Barrel, FTAC Dominion Muzzle, FSS Fireline Grip, SZ Prima-4 Dot Optic and ZLR ASP50 Stock. On Xbox Series X|S consoles it has a translucent "OG Green" finish for 25 years of Xbox; every other platform, Xbox on PC included, gets a mil-spec finish, and both perform the same.

Earlier pre-orders also gave Open Beta Early Access for the August beta weekend (Open Beta). Call of Duty: Mobile players who made any digital pre-order by Oct 23 get the "ICR-1 - Shattered Relay" Blueprint in Mobile, delivered in phases from Oct 30 to Nov 30, 2026, with claims open until Dec 31, 2026 (Call of Duty, Oct 12, 2026). The official posts we read do not say whether a purchase made after launch still includes the pre-order items, as of Oct 25, 2026.

Retailers added their own extras: GameSpot's pre-order guide listed a Best Buy steelbook with the Standard Edition and a five-hour 2XP item from Amazon.

Loyalty discount

Players who owned or played a premium Call of Duty since Modern Warfare (2019) on the same platform and account got 10% off the Vault Edition pre-order until Oct 23, 2026. Qualifying games were Modern Warfare (2019), Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, Modern Warfare 2 (2022), Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, including play through Game Pass or PlayStation Plus Monthly Games. The discount did not apply to upgrades and ended at launch.

Upgrading and physical copies

Owners of the digital Standard Edition can buy the Vault Edition Upgrade for $30 on the platform where they bought the game. Physical copies cannot be upgraded, and an upgrade does not move between platforms (Call of Duty, May 28, 2026). An Xbox Store purchase is Xbox Play Anywhere, covering Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC.

The physical Standard Edition comes on disc for PS5 and Xbox Series X, and there is no physical PC version (Call of Duty, Aug 26, 2026). Physical pre-orders received an Early Access Beta code on the receipt but no Campaign or DMZ Early Access, which was for digital pre-orders only.

Nintendo Switch 2: code in a box

Switch 2 pre-orders opened on Aug 26, 2026: the digital Standard and Vault Editions on the eShop, both at the same $69.99 and $99.99, and the physical Standard Edition at retail. US retail listings showed the boxed version is a download code in a box, not a cartridge, since the eShop listed the game at 84.9 GB, above the 64 GB largest Switch 2 cartridge. See Nintendo Switch 2 Version.

Carry Forward

Carry Forward is about Warzone. When Warzone becomes Modern Warfare 4's chapter in Season 1, Operators, Operator Skins and Blueprints bought in Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stay usable in Warzone, with older weapons in a Legacy tab as a fixed five-attachment version without Gunsmith. Legacy weapon camos do not carry into Warzone (Call of Duty, Sep 24, 2026). Older content does not carry into Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer or DMZ in the posts we read. See Warzone Integration.

The C.O.D.E. Valor Pack

The only paid DLC at launch is the Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Valor Pack, made with Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter; 100% of Activision's net proceeds go to the Endowment. It contains the "Valor" Operator, the "Relentless" Operator Skin, the "Forged Resolve" M4, "Still Standing" Rezi 12 and "Worth Fighting For" Combat Knife Blueprints, a charm, sticker, calling card, emblem and loading screen, and one hour each of Double XP and Double Weapon XP. It works in Multiplayer and DMZ at launch and in Warzone from Season 1, and USAA gives it free to US service members and veterans while supplies last.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Modern Warfare 4? Modern Warfare 4 costs $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Vault Edition in the US, on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Battle.net and the Nintendo eShop. Upgrading from Standard to Vault costs $30.

What comes in the MW4 Vault Edition? The MW4 Vault Edition adds the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack (Price, Valeria, Ghost, Blix), the Special Forces Operator Pack, five Signature Weapon Blueprints, one season of BlackCell and a DMZ Deployment Bonus with a third Active Duty Operator slot.

Is the Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition worth it? The MW4 Vault Edition is worth it mainly if you would buy BlackCell anyway: one season of BlackCell includes the Battle Pass, 20 Tier Skips and 1,100 COD Points, and the rest is cosmetic apart from the DMZ starter kit and extra Operator slot.

What are the Modern Warfare 4 pre-order bonuses? Every digital MW4 pre-order got Campaign Early Access (Oct 16), DMZ Early Access (Oct 20), the Hunter Killer Operator Skin, the Gilded Pearl Camo Pack and the "Inner Circuit" M4 Blueprint.

Did physical copies of MW4 get early access? No. Physical pre-orders of Modern Warfare 4 got an Early Access Beta code, but Campaign and DMZ Early Access were for digital pre-orders only.

Is the Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 on a cartridge? No. The boxed Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 is a download code in a box, because the game is larger than a Switch 2 cartridge.

Does BlackCell from the Vault Edition work now? Not yet. BlackCell, the Battle Pass and Tier Skips become usable in Modern Warfare 4 when the Season 1 Battle Pass opens on Nov 6, 2026.
