7:05 Camos in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 come in a fixed ladder per weapon: eight Military Camos and three Special Camos, then Gold, then Platinum once a whole weapon class is Gold, then Harmonic Break once all 33 weapons are Platinum, and finally Divergence and the Mastery Camos. One grind covers Multiplayer, DMZ and, from Season 1, Warzone: Special Camo challenges adjust to the mode, and a camo earned in any mode works in all of them. Infinity Ward's launch patch notes call it "the deepest we've ever built in a Modern Warfare game". Military Camos

1:39 Every weapon has eight Military Camos (Military Camo 1 to 8) that unlock simply by leveling the weapon. The levels differ by weapon; for the Han 86 they come at Weapon Levels 10, 18, 25, 34, 42, 50, 57 and 65, per Infinity Ward's progression blog (Oct 19, 2026). You need nothing but Weapon XP for these, so the advice on How to Level Up Fast applies directly.

Special Camos

8:10 Each weapon also has three Special Camos, unlocked at set weapon levels and then earned through a challenge. A completed Special Camo goes into a universal pool usable on every weapon. The challenges change with the mode, as these official examples show:

Several unlock requirements were listed wrongly in the game at launch; the Oct 23 update corrected them, so trust the in-game text over older screenshots.

Gold, Platinum and Harmonic Break

9:51 After all eight Military and three Special Camos on a weapon, its Gold challenge opens: 15 eliminations in a single Multiplayer match, or 100 in a DMZ match.

10:16 Platinum needs Gold on every weapon in the class, then one class challenge. Harmonic Break needs Platinum on all 33 weapons, then a second challenge per class. The blog lists both:

Divergence and Mastery Camos

11:45 Completing 33 Harmonic Break challenges awards Divergence, which opens the Mastery challenges. There are nine Mastery Camos in all, three per mode:

The Warzone camos arrive with the Modern Warfare 4 integration in Season 1 on Nov 6, 2026, when Warzone joins the shared grind (Warzone Integration).

Weapon Prestige camos

9:10 Weapon Prestige adds its own line, every form of Pyroclast: Pyroclast at Weapon Prestige 1, Level 1; Pyroclast Terminus at Weapon Prestige 1 max level; Pyroclast Scatter at Weapon Prestige Master Level 150; and Pyroclast Cascade at Level 250. Prestiging a weapon keeps its camos. A launch bug made Military Camos look locked again after a Weapon Prestige; the Oct 23 and 24 updates fixed it. The reset itself is explained on Prestige.

Gilded Pearl and the serialized camo

Every digital pre-order of the Standard or Vault Edition includes the Gilded Pearl Camo Pack. It has two parts. "Moonlit Pearl" is a Universal Camo granted at once. "Gilded Ruin" is a serialized camo: each copy carries a number from 1 to 100,000, given in order to the first 100,000 players who finished its challenge in Black Ops 7, which was to earn 5,000 Skulls (5 per elimination in Endgame, 10 in Multiplayer, 1 in Zombies, 30 in Warzone). The challenge began on Jul 23, 2026 with Black Ops 7 Season 05, and both camos unlock in Modern Warfare 4 from launch. Reticles and other cosmetics

16:59 Reticles follow a similar rule: you unlock them with ADS kills while using an optic, color variants together, and the progress is per optic but shared across modes and across weapons that share that optic. Calling Cards come from Mastery sets for Multiplayer, shared modes and Elite challenges. Weekly Challenges are not in Season 1; Infinity Ward said in the launch patch notes that Events will hand out rewards such as camos and Apex Attachments instead, with recurring Events for anything missed.
