Battle Pass and BlackCell
Modern Warfare 4 has no Battle Pass yet; the first one, with BlackCell, COD Points and Tier Skips, starts with Season 1 on Nov 6, 2026. BlackCell adds the full Battle Pass, 20 Tier Skips, 1,100 COD Points, an exclusive Operator and Blueprint, and the Vault Edition includes one season of it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on Oct 23, 2026 without a Battle Pass: the first one arrives with Season 1 on Nov 6, 2026, and BlackCell, COD Points and Tier Skips become available in the game at the same moment. BlackCell is the premium tier above the Battle Pass: Activision lists the full Battle Pass "with 100+ rewards", 20 Tier Skips, 1,100 COD Points, an exclusive Operator and Weapon Blueprint, and BlackCell versions of selected Battle Pass items. The Vault Edition includes one season of BlackCell. Prices for the Season 1 Battle Pass and BlackCell had not been announced as of Oct 25, 2026.

When the Battle Pass starts
Activision's editions post says BlackCell, the Battle Pass, COD Points and Tier Skips become available in Modern Warfare 4 "upon availability of the Season 1 Battle Pass in-game". Season 1 starts on Friday, Nov 6, 2026 on every platform, per the roadmap Infinity Ward posted on Oct 14, as Insider Gaming reported on Oct 22, 2026. No start hour has been announced; Insider Gaming's 9 AM PT is its own estimate from past seasons. So for the first two weeks after launch there is nothing to buy or level in a pass, and the Battle Pass progress you might expect from launch matches does not exist yet. Until then, Events take the place of a seasonal reward track: Infinity Ward's launch patch notes say the first Event started on launch day and that Weekly Challenges will not be in Season 1.

Weapon Blueprints from a Battle Pass do more than look different: a Blueprint makes its base weapon permanently available through your whole leveling journey, so a Battle Pass gun stays in your classes even after a Classic Prestige resets your level unlocks (Prestige). What the Season 1 Battle Pass itself contains (its weapons, Operators and number of tiers) had not been revealed as of Oct 25, 2026, Insider Gaming noted when the date was announced.
The Vault Edition's season of BlackCell
The Vault Edition ($99.99, or a $30 upgrade from Standard per Steam, read Oct 25, 2026) includes BlackCell for one season. Which season depends on when you buy: buy and play before or during Season 1 and you get Season 1 BlackCell; buy later and you get BlackCell for the season live at that time. Steam's edition chart lists it as "BlackCell (1 Season)" beside the Vault Edition's Operator packs, Signature Weapon Collection and DMZ Deployment Bonus. The full comparison is on Editions and Pre-order Bonuses. The clip is the end of the official Vault Edition trailer, whose last card lists one season of BlackCell beside the Hunter Killer skin and the DMZ Deployment Bonus.
Battle Pass and Warzone
Season 1 is also when Warzone moves to Modern Warfare 4: from then, Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression are integrated into Warzone, as Activision said at the May 28 reveal, and Warzone XP starts counting toward your Player Level. Past seasons' Battle Pass Blueprints and Operators from Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stay usable in Warzone through Carry Forward, with legacy weapons in their own tab. See Warzone Integration.
