How the story gets there
Price's half of the campaign is a hunt for "the one pulling the strings" (Call of Duty, Oct 16, 2026). He kills Makarov in Mission 2: Out in the Cold, then works with Valeria Garza's cartel to reach the Archer, the "Mercenary and Black Market arms dealer" (Dexerto) at the center of a trade in EMP devices. In Mission 7: Gone Dark the Archer sees the betrayal coming, kills Valeria and takes Price, Ghost and Gaz prisoner (Insider Gaming). In Mission 13: Escape he shoots Gaz, frames Task Force 141 for the Supreme Leader's murder, recaptures Price after Price gets Ghost to safety, and reveals he is Makarov's father.
The Archer's plan is bigger than Korea. Insider Gaming says the EMPs are only the start of a planned Russian invasion of Europe, and Kotaku (Oct 20, 2026) describes him as Russia's Defense Minister, out to build a new Russian empire. Meanwhile Park's story ends one mission earlier: in Mission 15: Decapitation Park shoots Ri Ju-Young, the commander who seized power in North Korea (Game Rant). In the clip the Archer, in the truck with Price, names Ukraine, Poland, the rest of Europe and England, and "a new Russian empire."
The ending explained
Ghost attacks the convoy carrying the Archer and Price. The vehicle flips off the road and Price is badly wounded; Ghost tells him to go after the Archer, who is also hurt, and Price kills him (Insider Gaming). Game Rant says Price stabs the Archer in the throat with a pipe, and that Price then bleeds to death from injuries the Archer caused. The clip is the fight on the frozen lake, ending with the pipe.
Ghost reaches Price for the last scene. Insider Gaming describes Ghost forgiving Price for his time as a "Nomad," an emotional moment between the two, and then Price succumbing to his wound. It is the end of a rift that ran through the whole game: Ghost and Gaz had been "tasked to capture or kill their former captain" (Call of Duty, Sep 17, 2026), and in Gone Dark Price warned them off (GameSpot, Oct 16, 2026). The clip is the same scene in Gamer's Little Playground's playthrough, from "How bad?" to "Was it worth it?" and "Hold the line."
Insider Gaming's review calls the ending bittersweet and says the campaign ends on a "definitive note," leaving no door open for a sequel. GameSpot calls the game "an epic conclusion to the rebooted series" that "closes out the ongoing narrative surrounding Price and Task Force 141," and Infinity Ward's Mark Grigsby said before launch that it "wraps up the Makarov storyline" (PCGamesN, Jul 25, 2026). More on Price's arc at Captain Price.
The post-credits scene
After the credits, CIA officer Kate Laswell reluctantly deletes all the files on Gaz, Ghost and Price, removing Task Force 141 from the record (Insider Gaming). The scene closes the loop that began in Modern Warfare (2019), when Price requested the files of Gaz, Soap and Ghost and formed Task Force 141 with Laswell's support (Call of Duty, Sep 16, 2026). Laswell is played by Rya Kihlstedt (Dexerto). Dan Allen's clip shows Laswell alone at a laptop, a file with a silhouette photo on the screen, typing.
No allowed source describes anything more after the credits, such as an epilogue mission, as of Oct 25, 2026.
What it sets up
Insider Gaming says the post-credits scene leads into DMZ, the game's extraction mode on the map Hajin, which continues after the campaign. Beyond that, nothing is announced: Activision has named no sequel or story expansion as of Oct 25, 2026, and Ghost's future is open. Guesses in the press about where Ghost goes next are speculation, not plans. At the end of the clip Laswell says operations are moving into the DMZ and welcomes someone to the Watcher program.
