Best Settings

The settings guides agree on the core of a Modern Warfare 4 setup: a field of view around 105, motion blur and depth of field off, NVIDIA Reflex on with Boost and V-Sync off on PC, Target Aim Assist on with the Dynamic response curve and vibration off on controller, and a Headphones audio mix. Sensitivity and deadzones are personal; start near 1.2 to 1.7.

The best Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 settings for frame rate and visibility, as Dexerto, Dot Esports and esports.gg recommend them, are a field of view of about 105, every motion blur and depth of field option off, 1st Person Camera Movement at Minimal (25%), and on PC NVIDIA Reflex On + Boost with V-Sync off and an upscaler such as DLSS; on controller, Target Aim Assist on, the Dynamic aim response curve, vibration and trigger effects off, and deadzones raised only until stick drift stops (Dexerto, Dot Esports, Oct 23, 2026). The tables below say who recommends what. Settings are preference: try them in the Firing Range or Proving Grounds before a match. In the clip LunchTime sets ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing to Instant, the Dynamic aim response curve and Target Aim Assist on.

Field of view

Field of view (FOV) sets how much of the world you see. A wider view shows more at the sides but makes distant enemies smaller. Change it in Settings, Graphics, View.

Setting Dexerto esports.gg Dot Esports
Field of View 105 (PC and console) 100 to 110 100 to 105
Enhanced FOV (PC) Off, or try with 105 Off
ADS Field of View Affected
3rd Person Field of View 90 90
Vehicle Field of View Default (Wide in its PC guide) Default

Dexerto suggests lowering FOV toward 100 if you struggle to track enemies at range, or raising it toward 110 for more peripheral vision if you are comfortable with smaller targets. Its ADS advice: Affected keeps your aiming view scaled to your FOV, so you see more around the target, while Independent narrows more when aiming and makes distant targets bigger; neither changes accuracy or recoil (Dexerto, Oct 22, 2026).

Enhanced FOV is a PC-only setting that uses lens effects to widen the view near the edges of the screen without changing the center FOV, which Activision pitches for players who like a smaller FOV but want more awareness (Call of Duty, Sep 29, 2026).

Also in the View menu, set 1st Person Camera Movement to Minimal (25%); the option was added during the beta (Call of Duty, Sep 1, 2026), and Dexerto, esports.gg and Dexerto's console guide all set it and 3rd Person Camera Movement to Minimal. Dexerto also turns Inverted Flashbang on. The clip is LunchTime's View tab: Enhanced FOV off, ADS Field of View Affected and 1st Person Camera Movement at Minimal (25%).

PC graphics settings

The guides aim at a high, steady frame rate and clean visibility rather than looks. Dot Esports tuned its guide for 1080p on hardware around an RTX 3060 Ti (Dot Esports, Oct 23, 2026); esports.gg's was written during the beta and may predate launch changes. The clip is LunchTime's PC graphics setup, from Fullscreen Exclusive and NVIDIA Reflex to DLSS Performance with a sharpness of 80.

The two disagree on the DLSS preset. esports.gg uses Performance and drops to Ultra Performance with every setting at its lowest if you cannot hold 60 fps; Dot Esports picks Ultra Performance at 1080p for frame rate in its summary but calls DLSS Quality "the best starting point" in its FAQ (Dot Esports, Oct 23, 2026). Start at Quality and step down until your frame rate holds. Dot Esports also advises Low textures on cards with 4 GB of video memory or less, and letting shader preloading finish before your first match to avoid stutters.

Two launch quirks matter here. DSOGaming found that turning ray tracing on disables every upscaler, and that DLSS, FSR or XeSS force Variable Rate Shading on (DSOGaming, Oct 23, 2026). Use the built-in Benchmark Tool to compare presets; it reports average fps, CPU, GPU and input latency per zone (Call of Duty, Sep 29, 2026). Hardware and driver versions are on PC Requirements and Install Size. In the clip BenchmarKing finds ray tracing working only with Filmic SMAA, not with DLSS, and advises turning it off.

PS5 and Xbox settings

Consoles have fewer graphics options. Dexerto's console guide: World and Weapon Motion Blur off, Film Grain 0, World and Weapon Depth of Field off, FidelityFX CAS on at strength 80, On-Demand Texture Streaming Optimized, Field of View 105, ADS Field of View Affected, both Camera Movement settings Minimal and Inverted Flashbang on (Dexerto, Oct 21, 2026). On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, a 120Hz display with VRR raises the frame rate ceiling (PlayStation Universe, Jul 16, 2026). Switch 2 options are on Nintendo Switch 2 Version. In the clip LunchTime turns VRR to Automatic on PS5, which he says Modern Warfare 4 needs for 120Hz.

Sensitivity is "a matter of personal preference", as Dexerto puts it. Dot Esports suggests a test: in the Firing Range, strafe while tracking a fixed point on a wall; if you overshoot, lower sensitivity by 0.05 to 0.1, and if you cannot keep up, raise it. For deadzones, start Min at a low value and raise it until the stick stops drifting. Dot Esports adds that a Left Stick Max around 65 to 75 reaches full strafe speed sooner, which helps when peeking (Dot Esports, Oct 23, 2026). In the clip LunchTime uses 1.65 and sets his deadzones, saying a right stick min pushed past 5 by stick drift means recalibrating or replacing the controller.

Aim assist was reduced in the second beta weekend, a global change that also reached Warzone, and Infinity Ward said then it was "not the exact tuning we want" (Call of Duty, Sep 1, 2026). Watch Patch Notes for later changes.

Movement and combat settings

Tactical Sprint is not on by default in Modern Warfare 4: it comes with the Blood Rush perk (Perk 2), and with it equipped, pressing sprint triggers Tactical Sprint because the default input is "single tap run"; "double tap" and "single tap sprint" are the alternatives in Movement Advanced Settings (Call of Duty, Oct 21, 2026). See Perks and Movement and Gunplay.

Common picks across the guides: Sprint Assist On, Mantle Assist Off, Slide Maintains Sprint On, Slide/Dive Behavior Tap to Slide, Sprint/Tactical Sprint Behavior Toggle, Auto Door Peek Off, Aim Down Sight Behavior Hold, Armor Plate Behavior Apply All and Equipment Behavior Hold (Dexerto, read Oct 25, 2026; esports.gg, Oct 18, 2026). They differ on Grounded Mantle (On for Dexerto, Off for esports.gg) and Tactical Sprint Activation (Single Tap Sprint for Dexerto, Single Tap Run for esports.gg).

Audio settings

Dexerto's audio setup, aimed at hearing footsteps: Audio Mix Headphones, Effects Volume 100, Dialogue Volume 30, Gameplay and Cinematic Music Volume 0, Speaker Output Stereo, Mono Audio Off, Reduce Tinnitus Sound On, and Push to Talk for the microphone (Dexerto, read Oct 25, 2026). Outside the game, it suggests Windows' Loudness Equalization on PC (in the headset's Enhancements tab) and, on PS5, Audio Focus with Focus Type set to Boost High Pitch, which it says makes "enemy footsteps and other important audio cues much easier to hear". More first steps are on Beginner's Guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best FOV in MW4? Dexerto recommends a field of view of 105 in Modern Warfare 4 on PC and console, with ADS Field of View set to Affected; other guides suggest 100 to 110.

What are the best MW4 controller settings? Guides agree on Target Aim Assist on, the Dynamic aim response curve, Instant ADS transition and vibration off for Modern Warfare 4; sensitivity ranges from 1.2 (Dexerto) to about 1.65 (esports.gg), with deadzones raised only until drift stops.
