Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched with 20 multiplayer maps: 12 Core 6v6 maps, 3 Ground War maps for 32v32, 4 Gunfight maps for 2v2, and Kill Block, a training facility that rebuilds itself between rounds. Core 6v6 maps

The Core maps are the standard 6v6 maps for respawn and round-based modes. Infinity Ward's Aug 21, 2026 multiplayer blog says several of them "explore familiar regions" from the campaign's theater of operations in new multiplayer layouts, and that every Core map has its own insignia and visual branding. Insider Gaming's map list counts all 12 as new, with no remake or remaster among them. Activision's launch blog has an interactive Tac Map for each Core and Ground War map. The clip is GamingBolt naming an old Soviet coal processing facility and a South Korean shopping district among the 6v6 maps, shaped by the campaign's locations.

Korea: Lotus, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92 and Silkworm

Five Core maps are set on the Korean peninsula, where most of the campaign takes place. Lotus is a fishing village after an amphibious landing, with fights through its market, hostel and boathouse. Munition is an active North Korean command facility built around a large munitions depot, with monitoring rooms, a linked skybridge and several hangars. Nautical takes place on a South Korean ferry at dawn, with debris on the decks and fires along the starboard side and bow. Reactor U92 is a reactor complex in meltdown, with electrical damage arcing across a concave command room. Silkworm is an urban shopping district where the action centers on a convenience store, a gaming den and a subway entrance, with alleys around the apartments at its edge (Call of Duty).

The rest of the world: Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Mumbai, Rooftops, Sentry and Transit 213

Cachette is a covert armory in a French wine warehouse and garage beside a rail terminal. Coal is an old Soviet coal processing plant in the mountains, with ore chutes feeding a polluted river and flood plain (Call of Duty, Aug 21, 2026). Lithium is the Corporación Mexicana de Litio refinery, turned into a combat zone. Mumbai is a fugitive's hideout around a Victorian market, cut by a rail line. Rooftops puts the fight on the snowy roof of a New York hotel, among HVAC platforms, a greenhouse and a laundry room. Sentry is a Russian base in a whiteout, fought across a garage, a generator room and a substation around a central command center. Transit 213 is a parking lot full of derelict buses, flanked by a repair shop and a gas station (Call of Duty). The clip is UnitedG's Kill Confirmed match on Coal, among its concrete buildings and corrugated sheds.

GamesRadar+ names Transit 213 as one of the smaller maps, where the PPSh-41 can "rack up dozens of kills". No official source gives sizes for the other Core maps, and Game Rant's full map guide states none either.

Shipment (from Oct 27, 2026)

Shipment is the one returning map: "the infamous small map", now on a Russian harbor between the water and concrete panel buildings, with its classic layout and Modern Warfare 4's visual upgrades, per Activision's launch blog. Game Rant reports it supports all Core and Hardcore modes and that the map debuted in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007.

Ground War maps

The three Ground War maps are large 32v32 maps for the Combat Outpost mode, all in and around Hajin, the city that is also the DMZ map (Hajin). Imjin Farmland covers fields, waterways, farms and a mill, with long roads and rail lines for vehicles. Wolves Stadium is the dense city center around a stadium, with multi-story buildings, tunnels and rooftops. Forest is the wooded hillside between them, with objectives at a hilltop guard tower, a gas station and the barracks (Call of Duty). Rules, vehicles and rewards are on Ground War. The clip is jackfrags in Combat Outpost on a wooded map, passing a gas station and climbing a guard tower.

Gunfight maps

The four Gunfight maps are small arenas for 2v2. Cafe is a Paris courtyard where a central fountain blocks the middle; the statue on top gives a better view. Library is a tight state library where enemies hide behind bookshelves and stairs lead to a center walkway. NYC is a downtown stage on a winter night, with many climbable vantage points. Smuggler is a rail yard where you fight around, inside and on top of train cars (Call of Duty). The official blog does not call any of them a remake. See Gunfight. The clip is jackfrags playing Gunfight in Cafe's courtyard, around the fountain and its statue.

Kill Block

Kill Block is the Westbridge Training Facility, a modular map built from slabs that swap between rounds, with more than 500 combinations at launch. It runs only 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight at launch. Some of its sections are new; others draw on Crash, Highrise and Shoot House, so Kill Block is where older Infinity Ward maps return in pieces. The clip is Infinity Ward's designers explaining that Kill Block's three slabs are randomized while you play.

Remakes and returning maps

Only Shipment is a full remake at launch. Kill Block's slabs reuse parts of classic maps (Crash, Highrise and Shoot House by Activision's account; Dexerto lists more, such as Killhouse, Ambush and Storage Town). No source found says that Cafe, Library, NYC or Smuggler are remakes.

Maps in the beta

Five of the Core maps were played in the Open Beta. Rooftops and Transit 213 were there from Day One; Cachette joined on Aug 22, 2026, Lotus on Aug 23 and Lithium on Aug 28. Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium carried Ground War from Aug 29, and Kill Block ran all through it (Call of Duty beta patch notes). The beta raised Transit 213's Team Deathmatch score limit from 100 to 150 and Kill Confirmed from 75 to 100 on that map.

Map fixes since launch

The launch patch notes fixed "various visual issues on Cachette" before launch, and the Oct 24, 2026 update stopped the Deathstalker killstreak from flying outside the boundaries of Rooftops. Every update is on Patch Notes. New maps for Season 1 on Nov 6, 2026 had not been announced as of Oct 25, 2026.
