Setting
At the end of Mission 13: Escape the Archer recaptured Price and revealed he is Makarov's father (Insider Gaming, Oct 20, 2026). Greater Good opens with Price bound in a military truck across from the Archer on a snowy mountain road, per KeenGamer's walkthrough. Ghost attacks the convoy carrying them; the vehicle flips off the road and Price is badly wounded, and Ghost tells him to go after the Archer, who is wounded too (Insider Gaming). The Archer is played by Mads Mikkelsen (Dexerto, read Oct 25, 2026). The clip shows the truck on the snowy mountain road and the Archer facing Price inside it.
Objectives in order
- Escape the Truck
- Pursue the Archer Through the Forest
- Kill the Archer
Source: TheGamer, Oct 25, 2026. KeenGamer splits the first steps into disarming the Archer and cutting your restraints, and ends with a melee fight on a frozen lake.
Walkthrough
Escape the truck. The mission starts in the wreck. Follow the prompts to get free; KeenGamer says the truck rolls into a ravine and you disarm the Archer and cut your restraints.
Pursue the Archer through the forest. KeenGamer advises taking a rifle from a fallen soldier, and TheGamer warns against staying exposed for long and says to reload whenever you get a safe moment before the next encounter.
Kill the Archer. The last fight is hand to hand on the frozen lake, per KeenGamer: follow the melee prompts. The campaign's melee fights use the same rules throughout, where timing your block lets you parry and counter (GameSpot, Oct 16, 2026), as in the Makarov fight of Mission 2: Out in the Cold. Price kills the Archer by stabbing him in the throat with a pipe (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026).
GameSpot was not impressed by the climax as a fight: it called the final "boss fights" "a major disappointment," neither challenging and both "too brief," while saying the story's conclusion satisfies.
Story
KeenGamer says the Archer lays out his plan to build a new Russian empire; Kotaku (Oct 20, 2026) describes him as Russia's Defense Minister, and Insider Gaming says the EMP attacks were only the start of a planned Russian invasion of Europe. Price kills him as his final act: Game Rant lists Price among the mission's deaths, bleeding out from injuries the Archer caused. The full ending, Ghost's last scene with Price and the post-credits scene are on Ending and Post-Credits Scene; Price's whole arc is on Captain Price. In the clip the Archer calls Korea a proving ground and names Ukraine, Poland, the rest of Europe and England, then "a new Russian empire."
Choices, collectibles and trophies
Greater Good has no collectibles (PowerPyx puts them all in Missions 3, 10 and 13) and no choice that guides list. Finishing it earns Hold the Line ("Complete the game on any difficulty") and, on Realism, Was it Worth It? (Insider Gaming). Both are Gold trophies in PowerPyx's list.
Finishing the campaign on any difficulty unlocks Realism, and finishing on Realism unlocks YOLO, where one death sends you back to Mayhem (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026). A YOLO completion gives the "YOLO Completer" Calling Card (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026). After the credits, mission select lets you replay any mission for missed trophies or collectibles (PowerPyx). See Campaign Rewards and Difficulty and Trophies and Achievements.
Reward
Finishing Greater Good unlocks the "Park" Base Operator, Pvt. Park Hyun Jun, the campaign's lead, played by Young Mazino (GameSpot, May 29, 2026). It is the last of the 16 completion rewards, usable in Multiplayer and DMZ. See Operators.
