Mission 15: Decapitation

Decapitation is Modern Warfare 4's fifteenth mission, the strike on North Korea's leadership: secure the landing zone, clear a detention center's cell blocks and offices, breach the war room and kill Commander Ri Ju-Young. It has no collectibles or trophy of its own, and finishing it gives a Double XP Token.

Spoilers for Mission 15 follow, including a major character death.

Decapitation is mission 15 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: the strike that ends the war's leadership, in which you secure a landing zone, clear a detention center's cell blocks and offices, breach the war room and kill Commander Ri Ju-Young, across six objectives. It is the last mission of Park's story, after Mission 14: Entrenched and before the finale, Mission 16: Greater Good. Finishing it gives a Double XP Token, the last of the campaign's three. In MrRoflWaffles' clip the briefing names the presidential palace, where Ri Ju-Young is holed up, and the route underground through the prison.

Setting

Ri Ju-Young, the North Korean Army commander played by Prisca Kim (Dexerto, read Oct 25, 2026), made herself Supreme Leader by killing her brother in Mission 8: Assassins (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026). Decapitation is the answer. Insider Gaming's plot walkthrough says South Korean forces, with Ghost's help, storm the Presidential Palace, and KeenGamer sets the mission at the North Korean palace and an underground facility beneath it, with Park fighting beside Kal and Ko Jin-Hyuk. TheGamer's objectives name the facility a detention center. Insider Gaming's review (Oct 18, 2026) describes a mission that has you flying in a helicopter over a North Korean presidential palace, firing a mounted grenade launcher, without naming it. The clip shows Park on the helicopter's mounted gun over the palace grounds.

Objectives in order

  1. Secure the Strike Team's Landing Zone
  2. Reach the Detention Center Entrance
  3. Clear Out the Detention Center's Cell Blocks
  4. Clear Out the Detention Center's Offices
  5. Breach and Clear the War Room
  6. Kill Commander Ri Ju-Young

Walkthrough

Secure the landing zone. The strike team comes in by air. Clear the area so the team can land, then push on toward the entrance with the squad.

Reach the detention center entrance. KeenGamer describes the route as an assault on the palace and a search for a hidden passage down to the facility.

Clear the cell blocks and offices. This is close-quarters work. TheGamer advises clearing rooms methodically, checking corners and doorways before pushing forward and using cover to reload between fights. KeenGamer adds that the power is cut underground and you fight on night vision, and that friendly fire in that section fails the objective, so check each target in the green light before you shoot. In the clip the power is cut and the squad is told to check its shots for a possible friendly.

Breach and clear the war room, then kill Ri Ju-Young. The last room holds the commander. Game Rant's list of deaths says Ri Ju-Young dies in this mission, shot by Pvt. Park Hyun-Jun.

Story

With Ju-Young dead, Park's war ends. KeenGamer says Ko chooses to stay in Korea as Park leaves by helicopter. Ko had defected in Mission 11: Defection, and GamesRadar+ called Lanny Joon's Ko "a stellar performance." Park's squad does not return in the final mission: PC Gamer notes that Price "never intersects with the real heroes," and Greater Good belongs to Price. See Story and Characters and Cast.

Choices, collectibles and trophies

Decapitation has no collectibles (PowerPyx puts all of them in Missions 3, 10 and 13), no trophy of its own in PowerPyx's trophy guide, and no choice that guides list. On YOLO difficulty, dying anywhere here sends you back to the start of the campaign (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026), so the night-vision rooms are the place to slow down.

Reward

Finishing Decapitation gives a Double XP Token, after those from Mission 3: Following Orders and Mission 9: Survivors (Call of Duty, Oct 16, 2026). See How to Level Up Fast and Campaign Rewards and Difficulty.
