Mission 1: Mayhem
Mayhem is the first mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, played as Private Park in Hajin City as North Korea invades; you help Dunn at a convenience store, fight paratroopers in a stadium, track a convoy and destroy a tunnel, and finishing it unlocks the "Cho" Base Operator.
Mayhem is the first mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: you play Private Park in Hajin City, a fictional South Korean city, on the day the invasion begins (PC Gamer, Oct 16, 2026). Activision's own recap says "it all kicks off with the full-scale invasion of South Korea's Hajin City" (Call of Duty, Sep 16, 2026). It runs from a quiet convenience store to a fight in a stadium and ends with a tunnel blown shut, in four objectives: "Help Dunn at the Convenience Store," "Go to the Stadium," "Find the Convoy's Origin" and "Destroy the Tunnel" (TheGamer, Oct 25, 2026). Finishing it unlocks the "Cho" Base Operator for Multiplayer and DMZ (Call of Duty, Oct 16, 2026). PC Gamer calls it a loud, chaotic fight where "your characters are noticeably terrified" and "your side is constantly outnumbered." The clip is IGN's playthrough from the first blast to the order to move to the stadium.

Spoilers for Mission 1 follow.
Help Dunn at the convenience store
The campaign opens before the war does. Park's squad of South Korean conscripts serves alongside two American Marines, Corporal Joseph Dunn and First Lieutenant Reggie West (Windows Central, Oct 17, 2026), and Wu-Tang Clan's "C.R.E.A.M." plays as the mission begins (GamesRadar+, Oct 16, 2026). You can wander the store before anything happens (Insider Gaming, Oct 18, 2026). Follow Dunn while he shops, pay at the counter, and follow the squad outside, as Critical Hits' walkthrough lays it out (Critical Hits, Oct 20, 2026).
Dunn asks you two things along the way, and Game Rant found that no answer changes anything (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026):
| Prompt | Answers |
|---|---|
| Tell Dunn about the food | "Fish that smells like piss.", "[Lie] Yes, Sushi." or no response |
| Remind Dunn what he needs to buy | "Cream for your infection.", "Stomach Medicine." or "Skin care." |

The attack and the stadium
The invasion opens with a widespread EMP attack on South Korea (Insider Gaming, Oct 20, 2026): the lights go out, something explodes, and the street is suddenly a war. Crouch under the rubble and follow the squad through the streets to a baseball stadium, which Critical Hits names as the Netshin Wolves', entering through a roll-up door (Critical Hits).
On the field, enemy paratroopers drop in and you clear them using the supply crates as cover. TheGamer's tip is to use this fight to practice your aim, because the paratroopers are easier to hit before they land (TheGamer).
Skeet Shooting trophy
Skeet Shooting asks you to "Kill 10 paratroopers in Mayhem before they hit the ground" (Insider Gaming, Oct 19, 2026), and it has to be done in one attempt. PowerPyx suggests setting the field of view to 60 (Settings, Graphics, View) so targets look bigger, firing in single taps, and reloading the checkpoint as soon as too many enemies land (PowerPyx, Oct 18, 2026). If you miss it, Mayhem can be replayed from mission select after the story.
Find the convoy's origin
After the stadium the squad regroups in a restaurant, where you can refill ammo at the counter, and waits for an enemy convoy to pass. At the parking lot entrance, go prone and use the parked cars as cover while more convoys arrive and leave, then head down to the underground level, where soldiers guard a tunnel (Critical Hits). This is a stealth beat: stay down until the vehicles are gone.
Destroy the tunnel
Clear the guards, then hold off the enemies coming out of the tunnel while your squad pushes a fuel truck toward it. Critical Hits says to grab the RPG beside the crates on the left and shoot the truck; the blast collapses the tunnel and ends the mission (Critical Hits).
Reward and what comes next
Finishing Mayhem on any difficulty unlocks the "Cho" Base Operator (Call of Duty); Cho is a South Korean soldier in Park's squad (Dexerto, read Oct 25, 2026). The mission has no collectibles (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026). The story then cuts away from Korea to Price in Mission 2: Out in the Cold; Park's squad returns in Mission 5: Losing Ground, back in Hajin City. All missions are on Campaign Walkthrough.
