Mission 14: Entrenched

Entrenched is Modern Warfare 4's fourteenth mission, a trench assault to stop a nuclear power station falling to the enemy, ending with the squad flooding the reactor. It was the first full campaign mission ever put in a Call of Duty beta, the Trench Broom trophy asks for 15 shotgun kills, and finishing it gives the "West" Base Operator.

Spoilers for Mission 14 follow.

Entrenched is mission 14 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: an assault through enemy trenches to stop a nuclear power station falling to the enemy, as Activision described it when it became the first full campaign mission ever included in a Call of Duty beta. You fight down the trench lines, reach the reactor building and open the pump release valves, across five objectives. It follows Mission 13: Escape and comes before Mission 15: Decapitation. Finishing it gives the "West" Base Operator. In MrRoflWaffles' clip the briefing sends the squad through the trench networks to a relay station by the nuclear plant, where command fears a meltdown.

Setting

Activision's campaign page lists "trench warfare in Korea" among the campaign's settings and promises Park's unit will be "forced through collapsing cities, entrenched positions and brutal counteroffensives" (Call of Duty, read Oct 25, 2026). Entrenched is that trench war. KeenGamer's walkthrough places the trench lines in Hajin and the goal as keeping a nuclear power station out of enemy hands, with Park fighting alongside Jae and Dunn.

The mission in the beta

Players could try Entrenched before launch. Activision called the August test "the biggest Call of Duty Beta yet" and, for the first time in the series, put a full campaign mission in it (Call of Duty, Aug 20, 2026). It was also part of the Nintendo Switch 2 beta (Call of Duty, Aug 26, 2026), where Kotaku found the campaign mission capped at 30 fps (Sep 1, 2026). The AU Review's Matthew Arcari called it "as gritty, chaotic, and fast-paced as I've seen in a Call of Duty campaign in a while," and found it "quite difficult, even on Regular difficulty" (The AU Review, Aug 26, 2026). More on the test at Open Beta and Nintendo Switch 2 Version. The clip is Activision's first look at Entrenched, trench fighting under fire, ending on the offer of beta early access.

Objectives in order

  1. Reach the End of the Trench
  2. Reach the Reactor
  3. Regroup at the Entrance to the Reactor Building
  4. Follow Jae to the Pump Release Valves
  5. Return to Jae and Dunn

Walkthrough

Reach the end of the trench. The mission opens with a rush "down the side of a hill into enemy trenches" (The AU Review). TheGamer advises using the trenches for protection and advancing from cover to cover rather than running through exposed sections. KeenGamer breaks this stretch into a first and second trench line and a relay station. If you are going for Trench Broom, switch to your shotgun now (below).

Reach the reactor. KeenGamer says RPGs disable Park's vehicle on the way, and that you destroy a BMP with Thermite charges. Keep an eye on where the squad is when the objective changes. In the clip the squad loses its vehicle, and C4 and thermite take out the BMP guarding the power plant.

Regroup at the reactor building. Gather with the squad at the entrance before going in.

Follow Jae to the pump release valves. The reactors "cannot be switched off, and instead must be flooded," and finding the switch led The AU Review's writer through "a series of close calls underwater" (The AU Review). KeenGamer's tip is to trace the yellow pipe to the emergency valve.

Return to Jae and Dunn. Rejoin the two to finish. The beta version ended with an escape to the roof of the plant and a cliffhanger, per The AU Review; KeenGamer says the full game's mission ends with a reactor cutscene as the squad escapes. The clip shows the squad climbing to the roof for a helicopter as the plant comes apart.

Trench Broom trophy

Trench Broom asks you to "kill 15 enemies with a shotgun before securing the Target Building" in Entrenched. PowerPyx says to switch to your secondary shotgun in the trenches and have at least 10 kills before the ally rescue near the end. Insider Gaming's trophy list prints the name as "Trench Boom." It is a Silver trophy in PowerPyx's list. See Trophies and Achievements.

Choices and collectibles

Entrenched has no collectibles (PowerPyx puts them all in Missions 3, 10 and 13), and no guide lists a story choice in it.

Reward

Finishing Entrenched unlocks the "West" Base Operator: First Lieutenant Reggie West, the US Marine who introduced the squad to Wu-Tang Clan's "C.R.E.A.M." (Windows Central, Oct 17, 2026), played by Luke Tennie (GameSpot, May 29, 2026). See Operators and Campaign Rewards and Difficulty.
