Mission 4: Hired Gun
Hired Gun is the fourth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a running fight with Valeria's cartel out of a train yard, through a warehouse, containers and a maintenance building to a showdown with Graves and Shadow Company; it holds the Bullet Train trophy (50 kills on train cars) and unlocks the "Dallas" Base Operator.
Hired Gun is the fourth mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: a running gunfight out of a train yard, through a warehouse, the shipping containers and a maintenance building, ending with a fight against Graves. Its objectives are "Fight Your Way Out of the Trainyard," "Move Through the Warehouse," "Fight Through the Containers," "Get Through the Maintenance Building" and "Defeat Graves," and TheGamer suggests a shotgun or a high-damage SMG for the tight sections (TheGamer, Oct 25, 2026). The train yard is the set piece: trains keep moving, and you can hop on, climb over or under them, or ride one while you fight (Kotaku, Oct 20, 2026). Finishing it unlocks the "Dallas" Base Operator (Call of Duty, Oct 16, 2026).

Spoilers for Mission 4 follow.
The setup
Price is now working with Valeria Garza's Las Almas cartel, moving a package someone wants badly. Shadow Company, the private military company led by Phillip Graves, tries to intercept it, and many civilians die in the fighting (Insider Gaming, Oct 20, 2026). Graves betrayed Task Force 141 in Modern Warfare 2 (Call of Duty, Sep 16, 2026), which is why this fight is personal; see Story.
Fight your way out of the train yard
The squad leaves the train under attack, among civilians. Take cover and pick your shots: Critical Hits warns that killing a civilian fails the mission (Critical Hits, Oct 20, 2026). Work south across the trains to the Entrepot Nord warehouse, watch for snipers, and wait for the squad to breach the door.
Bullet Train trophy
The train yard is where to earn Bullet Train: "Kill 50 enemies while standing on train cars in Hired Gun." Moving and stationary cars both count (PowerPyx, Oct 18, 2026), and the count adds up across the mission, but your allies can steal kills, so Critical Hits says to be quick (Critical Hits). Climb onto a car early in each fight and stay on it. If you miss it, replay Hired Gun from mission select.
Move through the warehouse
Follow the squad upstairs, along a corridor past an office and through the production floor, where the squad leans on a worker to open a roll-up door to the outside (Critical Hits).
Fight through the containers
Outside, enemies hold the tops of the containers across the tracks. Clear them from cover, then climb onto the containers and finish the rest while you follow the squad.
Get through the maintenance building
Push southeast through a second rail yard. A helicopter joins in and fires rockets that kill on a direct hit; you cannot bring it down yet, but shooting at it drives it off for a while (Critical Hits). Go through the maintenance building and out the far side, then follow the squad into the next building to resupply and pick up a Grenade Launcher before you follow Valeria upstairs.
Defeat Graves
From cover, hit the helicopter twice with the Grenade Launcher to bring it down; if you run dry, Valeria resupplies you. Graves comes out of the wreck. Shoot him at range, and when he closes in, throw a Flash Grenade to stun him (Critical Hits).
Shoot or don't shoot
After a cutscene, Graves tries to talk Price out of his revenge (Insider Gaming), and the game gives you the choice. Shoot, and Price shoots Graves in the head; don't shoot, and Graves takes the gun and kills Price, and the game sends you back to the checkpoint before the choice (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026). So there is only one way forward. On YOLO difficulty, hesitating costs far more: not shooting sends you back to the start of the campaign (Game Rant, same article). Game Rant lists Graves as one of the campaign's deaths, in this mission (Game Rant, Oct 19, 2026).
Reward and what comes next
Hired Gun unlocks the "Dallas" Base Operator on any difficulty (Call of Duty) and has no collectibles (PowerPyx, Oct 21, 2026). Operators are on Operators. The story returns to Park's squad in Mission 5: Losing Ground. All missions are on Campaign Walkthrough.
